Logging messages
Often you want to keep a record of conversations in the channels or query windows.
Snak can be set to automatically log everything into a text file that you can
then read later.
Logging can be started manually by using the Start Logging command from the file
menu, or by turning on automatic logging in the Logging preference panel. In the
case of manual logging you will be prompted where to save the log file, and for
automatic logging you can specify the location to use in the Logging preference
panel.
There are several options that can be used to control how the automatic logging
works, like if a separate folder is created for each network, if a separate folder
is created for every day, if a new log file is started every day or not. By default
the log files are set up to be opened by the popular text editor BBEdit when you
double click them. Macintosh files contain a four character code, called the creator
code that tell the Finder what application to use when you double click a file.
In the case of BBEdit that code is "R*ch". If you wish to use SimpleText instead
you can change this to "ttxt".
Some versions of SimpleText canít open text files larger than 32K (15-20 pages
of text)
